All of the stone we use for our cemetery memorials are Igneous Rock. Most are Granite, but some are Gabbro.  So to best answer the question on how long will the stone last, we can look at actual scientific findings. The National Parks Geologic Service finds that Mt. Rushmore (Also Igneous Granite Rock) will Erode at the rate of 1/10 inch per one thousand years. https://www.nps.gov/moru/learn/nature/geologicactivity.htm   So most of the stones we carve to a depth between .25 -.625 of an inch. So to sum this up, yes the stone will get dirty, fungi might grow, lawnmowers might do a little damage from time to time. But the stone Will be carved and legible for thousands of years. 

No. Flat out No.  We will quote you for all products and services provided. Then if a family decides to move forward and place an order we ask two things. Number One, We will collect the amount owed to the city or cemetery to get on the foundation pour list. Number Two, we ask for a deposit on the monument. Roughly a third of the sale price. Once the stone comes in, we will go over the drawings again and get ready to carve. We ask for another Third at that time. Then once the stone is complete and you are 100% happy with everything. We ask the stone be paid for before we deliver
